The Revelation of a Star’s Endless Shine: A Young Woman’s Autobiography of a 20-Year Tale of Trials &
Tribulations
by Shirley Cheng

Book Description

Blind and disabled child prodigy Shirley Cheng's autobiography unveils twenty-year horror and triumph, including
the 1990 international news of mother's victory over injustice in her custody case.

The Revelation of a Star’s Endless Shine: A Young Woman’s Autobiography of a 20-Year Tale of Trials &
Tribulations
by Shirley Cheng begins as follows:

                                                         Chapter One

The strong wind whirled, bringing dancing flakes in its invisible arms, equally
distributing a thin layer of snow to other places of the frozen land. Small spheres of
shimmering, crystalline flowers alighted upon the earth from their silvery home above,
while the sun still slept peacefully below the horizon during this misty dawn. One would
notice that the sky jewels still twinkled ardently, as if calling news of most importance.
Although the air was still and cold, it did not lack any emptiness. Faint songs of birds
accented one another in counter harmony. Many creatures had packed their bags and
sought shelter elsewhere, in a land of abundant warmth and merriment; some others
snuggled cozily in their lairs for their long sleep. Crisp laughter of children rang out loud
and clear as these early birds played hide-and-seek in the snow, while honks from horns
were audible on the streets. The roads were not filled with the usual volume of vehicles,
for it was Sunday, and many people were still in bed after a long night of partying with
friends and families; and more parties awaited them for the Super Bowl tonight. Yet, as
these people slept, many lives were bustling about with energy and urgency. Ambulances
rushed through the streets, and a few stopped outside a building.
The large building was filled with life. People dressed in white rushed to and fro
to the assistance of others in need. The calling of nurses from the lips of the sickened
patients traveled about in the building, mingled with coughs and sneezing. It was surely a
busy time of the year for colds and flu. A telephone shrieked, and the tired receptionist
answered, “Albany Medical Center.”
