Seven Steps into the Life of God by Reverend Carl E. Prince, begins as follows:
CONVERSION
Step 1: Conversion - a converting or being converted; to change; to transform; to change from one religion, doctrine, etc. to another; a person converted, as to religion.
The conversion I am asking you to seek is a change that focuses on one's personal lifestyle. Conversion is the changing of your mind as a result of an event or events, a reaching of a decision. Conversion can happen in a period of seconds, minutes, days, or years. It is the step in which you are in the process of making up your mind. Everyone must go through this step. It is a changing of direction. You must make an opposite choice in lifestyle. Your choice is to change from a secular to a religious lifestyle. To change from unbelief to belief you must take action. A decision is the action you need to take. When one has truly made a decision to change, this step is complete.
We have experienced this hundreds of times in our lives: the need to make a change, the desire to change, and the decision to change. This is an inward process which results in an open demonstration, showing outwardly that you have changed (Acts 15:3; I Thessalonians 1:9).
One must not over emphasize the events or actions that caused the change to occur. The events are never greater than the conversion itself. The focus must be on the change. The events and actions serve as a reminder of the decision to change. You must understand that the things that God allows to happen in your life always work for your own good (Romans 8:28, 12:2; James 1:17). These events and actions must always be seen in a positive light (Genesis 50:20).
Conversion is the final decision reached. This step will begin your continual conversion or change from negative actions and thoughts to positive events and activities
